Prerequisites

Because NeuraBayt - Private on-device AI Assistant executes AI directly on your device's hardware, your system must align with Google's official browser and hardware specifications:

Chrome Browser: Version 138 or higher is required for built-in AI APIs. Desktop Chrome is required; mobile versions of Chrome (Android, iOS) are not supported.
Operating System: Windows 10/11, macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer, Linux, or ChromeOS (on Chromebook Plus devices, starting from platform version 16389.0.0).
Device Memory (RAM): 16GB of RAM or more is required for CPU-based inference. For GPU-based inference, strictly more than 4GB of VRAM is required.
System Disk Space: At least 22GB of free disk space is required on your system drive (to allow Chrome to allocate and manage the local model files).
Processor & Graphics: Supported on both GPU and CPU execution. GPU mode requires strictly more than 4GB of VRAM and is recommended for faster response times. CPU mode requires 16GB of RAM and 4 or more CPU cores.
Network: An unlimited or unmetered internet connection is required for the initial model download (~1.5GB to 4GB depending on the device). Subsequent use does not require a network connection.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during local model usage, check these common items:

First-Time Setup Delay

When you run an action for the very first time, Chrome downloads the necessary AI model weights in the background (~1.5GB to 4GB depending on your device). This happens only once and may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection.

To monitor download status: Check the loading spinner text inside the extension panel. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and at least 22GB of free disk space on your system drive during this initial download step.

Model Loading Failures

If the model fails to load, verify that your hardware meets the system requirements (16GB RAM for CPU mode, or strictly more than 4GB VRAM for GPU mode). You can also try restarting your Chrome browser or toggling hardware acceleration in Chrome Settings.

Troubleshooting Flag: If the model doesn't download or load due to performance checks, navigate to chrome://flags/#optimization-guide-on-device-model, set it to "Enabled BypassPerfRequirement", and relaunch Chrome.
